Chattanooga
Deborah Levine’s passion for writing began during her childhood transition from Bermuda to Manhattan. The author of 15 books, she received a National Press Association Award, and was featured on CSPAN - BOOKTV. She was a blogger with The Huffington Post and is now an opinion columnist with The Chattanooga Times Free Press. Her memoir was named a Finalist in the 2017 national Indie Book Competition. She was given the "HerStory Award" by the Women's Federation for World Peace.
Deborah has published 15 books, several of which have won awards. Deborah received a National Catholic Press Association Award for her first book, Teaching Curious Christians about Judaism, which was taken to the Vatican as a gift for Pope Francis. The Liberator’s Daughter, which includes her father’s World War II letters and her own diversity work, was named a Finalist in the Memoir category of the 2017 Indie Book national competition. Her memoir, The Magic Marble Tree, was named 2018 memoir of the year by Just Reviews.
Deborah served as the first Research Coordinator of the College of Engineering and Computer Science/UTC, teaching technical writing to local and international students.

6. JOURNALIST
Deborah’s articles are published in academic journals and popular magazines: European Women in Construction & Engineering, Harvard Divinity School Bulletin, The Bermudian Magazine, The Journal of Ecumenical Studies, and Journal of Public Management & Social Policy. She wrote for The Huffington Post for several years and is currently an opinion columnist for The Chattanooga Times Free Press. Deborah also hosts the ADR Podcasts conducting interviews with local, national, and innovative change makers.


7. MEDIA DIRECTOR
Deborah served as Community Relations/Media Director for Tulsa’s Jewish Federation and the National Workshop on Christian-Jewish Relations. She oversees the American Diversity Report’s website, social media presence, press releases, and podcast. Deborah also served as Editor for Jewish Federations in Rockford, IL. and Chattanooga. TN. She saved as Executive Communication Director for Global Goodwill Ambassadors.
Her presentation, “Storytelling in Marketing,” was given at the Chattanooga Marketing Clinic and at business communication classes at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was VP of Communication for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce’s International Business Council (IBC) and serves on the Executive Committee/Media Team of the Chattanooga Council Against Hate.
8. EDUCATION
Deborah’s degrees include: Cultural Anthropology (BS: NYU 1971/coursework at Harvard U.); Urban Planning & Policy (MA: U. of IL at Chicago 1983); Religion (MA: Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies 1994). She was awarded research fellowships from the American Jewish Archives (1990) and William Andrews Clark Library/UCLA (1982).

9. HONORS
In addition to the awards received for her writing, Deborah has been recognized by the TN Economic Task Force on Women, American Planning Association/Chicago (1982), and Girls Inc. of Chattanooga (2014). She was recruited to join the TN Advisory Committee of the US Global Leadership Coalition and the Diversity Advisory Task Force of Volkswagen Chattanooga.
