MURFREESBORO - The Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts Accepting applications for this Summer’s Film Program.

Posted on: Thursday - Jan 11, 2024

This program is specifically for rising 11th and 12th graders and is held on MTSU’s campus for three weeks with the students staying in dorms. In the filmmaking section, narrative filmmaking is the focus with story being the focus. Students learn real life practices such as lighting, equipment, cameras, crew positions and more. Many of our students have gone on to great film programs at NYU, Chapman, FSU, Belmont, UT Austin, UCLA, USC and more. The friendships they make carry over into their college life and even careers.

We are looking for students with a passion for filmmaking, storytelling or movies. Many of our best students did not have access to gear or equipment but just loved movies, or were great at photography, or creative writing so we encourage students to apply regardless of their access to equipment.

The program offers merit based scholarships for some of the students. Financial aid is also available on a need basis. At the end of the program they receive a college credit.
