Title: Film & Video Support Specialist (Equipment Room Manager)

 Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Extensive experience in all aspects of motion picture, television, and media production, engineering; specifically, maintenance and service operations.

Position Purpose and Description

This position is responsible for coordinating equipment usage, check out and check in of equipment, repairs, maintenance, and upgrades of film and video equipment used in the studios, labs, and technical spaces of the Johnson Center.  Will assist in budget and purchasing decisions and ordering of equipment.  Will maintain and oversee use of Johnson Center 402, JC 403, JC 444 and all of the requisite equipment.  Includes training Motion Pictures students and training, scheduling, assignments and supervision of student workers.

Oversee cataloging system for equipment usage (i.e., reservation, check-out, return, check-in, etc.), maintenance, and supply history.

Manage and train student staff assistants to assemble and prep equipment for general usage on student film, video, and broadcast projects.

Train and coordinate student staff assistants to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair general electronic and mechanical equipment issues with film and media equipment.

Coordinate student-worker staff assignments with studio and lab scheduling.

Work with the Recording & Film Studio Manager, studio managers, chairs, faculty, and staff in the research and purchase of new equipment in support of student learning outcomes.

Evaluate equipment for operation, maintenance, repairs, and warranty care.

Hold seminars in all areas of film production, including use of specialized equipment.

Maintain knowledge of current film, video, and broadcast production best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and practical skills with equipment usage, repairs, maintenance, and upgrades of film, TV, and broadcast equipment.

Thorough understanding of film and audio remote recording equipment.

Knowledge of hardware and software used in a typical higher-education setting, including both Mac and Windows based systems.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations.

Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.

Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
