Nashville Filmmakers Guild COVID-19 Relief Fund

Posted on: Sunday - Mar 22, 2020

The Nashville filmmaking community is experiencing widespread economic shut-downs due to COVID-19. In response, NFG 501(c)(3) is launching a fund to provide financial relief to the hardest hit support crew during these pervasive job cancellations. We’re asking for tax deductible donations to send aid to the most heavily impacted crew, who are the lifeblood of our film community. Our sets wouldn't function without their dedication. It's time to show how much we care.

We’ve researched other community efforts and are building on their examples. There are two categories of modest one-time stipends: PARTIAL-WAGE LOSS ($400 stipend) or TOTAL-WAGE LOSS ($800 stipend). Aid will be distributed once to single applicants, according to the order received and urgency. If we surpass our campaign goal -- and every qualified applicant has received support -- the remaining funds will be re-distributed evenly among approved applicants. Meeting our $80k goal means 100 to 200 workers receive emergency relief.

PARTIAL WAGE LOSS: A one-time amount of $400 will be given to applicants reporting partial-wage loss and facing financial hardship due to COVID-19 related shut downs (ex. an applicant has lost some recent work BUT can qualify for some unemployment benefit).

TOTAL WAGE LOSS: A one-time amount of $800 will be given to applicants reporting total-wage loss and facing financial hardship due to COVID-19 related shut downs (ex. 1099 employees who lost substantial work and does not qualify for unemployment, new hires who had their start dates delayed indefinitely, etc).
