The Tennessee Film, Entertainment & Music Commission (TFEMC), in partnership with IATSE Local 492 and IATSE Local 600, presented the “Railroad Safety Awareness for Film and Entertainment Industry Workers” class on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28 in Nashville, Tenn. 

Over 70 participants turned out across the two-days to learn basic railroad safety for production personnel, various safety regulations and how to effectively report safety concerns. “TFEMC is very honored to help Tennessee crew members with their safety awareness and workforce development.” said Gisela Moore, TFEMC project manager. “This was a very important and empowering class for our crew to attend.”

The class was led by 30-year industry veteran and managing director of Rail Transportation Management Specialists, Art Miller. Upon completion, participants were required to pass a test in order to receive their certification in Basic Railway Safety Awareness. Miller said the emphasis on thorough safety will help crews better assist on-set.

“The presence of these well-trained film personnel can only enhance the competitive advantages of both the individuals and of Tennessee's outstanding locations, crews, and production support resources,” Miller said.
